WebcomiX is an app for reading web comics. It started off as an iOS app in 2015 and was rewritten to bring it to android in 2019. Its goal was to make reading web comics a bit easier. Things like non standard navigation buttons and a lack of proper bookmarking meant reading some of the comics was a bit of a chore. Also, unless you used RSS feeds, there was no way of knowing if there was new content. WebcomiX aimed to sort all these issues.
There are three main screens (not including the about screen).
This screen is where you see your favourite comics. It updates to show when there are new episodes to view. Favourite comics also keep your position so you can carry on reading where you left off.
This is a list of all the comics. It is sortable in a number of ways. You can add a comic to your favourites by tapping the heart and using the info button to get more details.
This is where you read the comics. There are buttons for previous/next, first/last, share and goto. There is also a button for displaying any “Alt Text” for that particular strip.
For the more technically minded, it has been rewritten in C# using Xamarin Forms. This meant that we could write one app but actually deploy it to Apple and Android devices.
