Red Five Software

I’m Shaun Pryszlak, a Brighton based software developer who has done many things in my time. From factory control systems to mobile phone apps. It’s all software really. Currently I am specialising in App development using technologies such as XCode/Swift and Visual Studio/Xamarin. See the Apps page for more details.

Mobile Apps

I have been writing apps since I first got my iPhone 3GS. So far they have maihnly been in Swift but if you want an app for iOS and Android then Microsoft Xamarin is probably the way to go. One codebase and UI but running natively on TWO platforms. What’s not to like.

In my spare time I have been doing a webcomic.

I have been using C# for around fifteen years now.  I am familiar with things like Entity Framework and XAML.  I have also done a bit of web design using Microsofts MVC framework.

I am used to working in an agile environment.  That means doing things like iterations and standups.

I am a firm believer in TDD now.  I don’t begin coding the UI for an app until I have got the back end working in a testable way.

I speak SQL and know my way round MSQLMS.

To paraphrase Meatloaf, I will do anything for love, but I won’t do PHP.

Arts and Crafts

I have been taking photos for a long time now and have recently upgraded to a “proper” camera.  I have even exhibited in the Brighton Photo Biennial.

Graphic Design

I recently did a thirty week Graphic Design evening class which I found very interesting.  I have my own copies of Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign.

I have dabbled with making music in thje past.  I say “music” but it is more on the experimental side than actual tunes.  I have a copy of Ableton and a Novation LaunchPad.

You name and art or craft and I have probably done an evening class in it.  Sculpture, screen printing, scrapbooks, sketching and even some things that don’t begin with an s.
